Getting started with Underanchor

Underanchor is a LaTeX editor where every claim in your document is anchored to a specific paragraph of a source PDF — a thesis, an article, a report, a legal brief: any text that has to show where it comes from. Click a citation and the PDF opens on the right page with that paragraph highlighted. Sentences without support are marked [SIN FUENTE] (“no source”).

The app is in English or Spanish (Settings → Language: Automatic, Español, English). Labels below are written in English, with the Spanish label in brackets.

  1. Upload your PDFs — go to Libraries (Bibliotecas) and drag PDFs into a library, or import them from Zotero. Each paragraph becomes a citable unit. See Libraries and PDFs.
  2. Create a project — on Home (Inicio), click Create project (Crear proyecto), give it a name and pick the library it will cite from. See Projects and the LaTeX editor.
  3. Connect your AI — account menu → Connect an AI (Conectar una IA). Claude or ChatGPT then searches your library and writes each sentence with its source. See Connect Claude or ChatGPT.

Home shows a Getting started (Primeros pasos) card until all three are done.

A new, empty account gets an example library (“Ejemplo · Calidad del aire y movilidad”) and an example project with anchored sentences, unanchored ones and a comment. It does not count towards your plan. Remove it from Home with Remove the example (Quitar el ejemplo).

A 12-step tour opens on first login. Replay it any time: account menu → Take the tour (Ver el recorrido).

The AI is yours (your Claude or ChatGPT subscription), connected through an MCP connector. Underanchor stores your PDFs, anchors and LaTeX; it never sends your text to a model itself.
