Share with a reviewer or co-author (roles)

  1. In the project, click Share (Compartir).
  2. Type the email, choose a Role (Papel) and click Invite (Invitar).
  3. With access (Con acceso) lists who can open the document and with which role; remove someone there. Inviting the same email again changes their role.

Whoever is invited does not pay and does not count towards your plan.

To send the invitation yourself (chat, WhatsApp, anywhere) instead of by email: in Share (Compartir), under Or with a link (O con un enlace), choose the role and click Create link (Crear enlace). The link is copied and shown once (it is not shown again). Whoever opens it, signing in or creating an account, joins the project with that role and finds it under “Shared with you”. The link expires after 7 days and never gives access to your library; click Withdraw (Retirar) to cancel it earlier. People who already joined stay under With access (Con acceso): remove them there. Joining by link counts towards the limit of 10 people per project.

  • Review (Revisar): reads the draft, sees the paragraphs you cite, comments and suggests changes. Cannot write in the document. This is the default.
  • Edit (Editar): a co-author. Writes in your document at the same time as you, in real time (you see each other’s cursors) and can compile it. Also comments. With the library box ticked, also searches, cites and highlights in your project’s library, like you.
  • View (Ver): only reads the draft and the cited paragraphs. Does not comment or write.

Whoever has the project open at the same time shows up as a coloured circle with their initials in the top bar (the colour is the one of their cursor in the text; hover for the name, yourself marked “you”).

A role is enforced by the server: someone with Review or View sees the text change live but whatever they type is discarded. Changing a role or removing access takes effect in a few seconds, even with the document open.

  • The document, and its compiled PDF in the Document (Documento) tab.
  • For each citation, only the cited paragraph (its text and a crop of the page around it). Never the whole PDF or the rest of your library.
  • A reviewer or viewer never sees your library. A co-author sees it only if you tick the box that gives them access to the project’s library when you invite them (see Shared libraries and co-authors with a library); without it they can write [SIN FUENTE] and you anchor it afterwards.

At the top of the document there is a switch: Editing (Editando), Reviewing (Revisando) and Viewing (Viendo). It only offers the modes the role allows, and you can always step down to a more cautious one:

  • Editing: you write directly.
  • Reviewing: track changes. You can type and delete as usual, but nothing is lost or decided: what you type stays in the text marked in blue and underlined, and what you delete stays struck through in red. Hover a change, in the code or in the compiled document, and Accept (Aceptar) or Reject (Rechazar) it; the margin cards do the same. Accepting a deletion removes the text; rejecting an insertion removes what was typed. Compile while Reviewing and the PDF shows the pending changes in colour. Every comment and change carries the name of whoever made it.
  • Viewing: you only read.

A person with the Review role cannot type in the document: they select a fragment and use Suggest a change (Sugerir cambio), and the owner accepts or rejects it.

You, as the owner, have the same switch in your own documents.

  • Compile (Compilar) your project and see the PDF; clicking the PDF jumps to its line in the code, and Ctrl+click on the code jumps to the PDF.
  • Comment and suggest changes like any reviewer. You Accept (Aceptar) or Reject (Rechazar) each suggestion; the document only changes when you accept.
  • Ask the AI (Pedir a la IA), with their own connector, on your project (see Shared libraries and co-authors with a library).
  • See, live, the highlights and anchors the others make, not only the text.

To show your sources to someone without an account (a committee, a journal), use the Provenance report at the bottom of the same Share window. See Search and anchor citations. For comment threads, see Comments and suggestions.
